Fire Safety & Security Products 03.2009
The earlier the information for the individual steps is available in level-appropriate
detail and quality, the better the chance that they will be included in the planning
process and that they can be found again in the built result.
The user and its consultants are responsible for this information.
2.14.1 Analysis – understanding the current state
1. Quantitative recording of the current state (quantity structure, areas, facilities)
2. Qualitative recording of the current state (positive/negative)
– Operational processes
– Climate
– Light
– IPM - Integrated Pest Management (pest situation)
– Storage technology
– Operational infrastructure
– Recording existing internal or external risks
– Safety
– Fire protection / Fire detection
Where do the deficits in the current spatial and operational situation lie?
2.14.2 Clarification – Creating the general principle, target definition and operating
concept
1. General principle and goals of the institution or the department
2. Creating an operational concept directed towards the future
– What will be generated in the future, to what quality and to which extent, and
with how many staff?
– Which services are needed from third parties?
– Which tasks, which stock does not belong to the core business (anymore) and
can perhaps be offloaded?
– Which tasks, which stock will become a core competence in the future?
3. Defining the desired usage and protection targets for the collections
4. Claiming and registering the required resources (planning investment costs and
overheads long-term)
How will the institution develop in the near future? Which changes may occur?
What will the resources be in future?
2.14.3 Requirements - defining the required quantities
1. Claiming requirements
– Storage space to accommodate the current stock while at the same time op-
timizing storage (storage improvement, deconcentration, concentration, re-
moval)
– Creating reserves and growth areas for existing and new core competencies
– Operational infrastructure under consideration of an operational concept
which is directed towards the future and of the required posts
Which space allocation plan must be set up for the project?
