9 Master/slave
Example for master/slave: Several controllers are installed in a large, open-floor
office.
One controller (master) measures the room temperature and controls the other
controllers (slaves) via the KNX bus. This ensures that future subdivision of the room
into smaller rooms without the need to change the wiring is possible.

Controller A is configured as the master and controls the room temperature.
Controllers B are configured as slaves and operate in parallel with controller A.
A slave controller may be controlled by one master controller only. A master,
however, can control any number of slaves subject to the limits of the KNX system
(topology, bus load etc.).
Parallel operation of thermal valves among other factors primarily depends on the
supplied voltage. We recommend to parameterize "3rd Party Thermic" for thermal
valves regardless of make.
Master-slave bindings are possible only between same-version controllers (ASN)
featuring the same applications and settings.
Parameter Description
Master Normal control.
Slave The slave controller is controlled by a master controller via the KNX
bus. The master and slave controllers operate in parallel.
The room temperature is measured only by the master.
