7 Data backup
• Create a backup for the settings.
• Restore backed up settings following unsuccessful changes.
• Back up or restore settings when exchanging the bus operator unit.
The bus operator unit's settings can be backed up after commissioning. These settings
can be later restored e.g. following unauthorized or erroneous changes or deletion of
settings.
Data are backed up or restored via 2 different locations:
• Locally via the internal memory of the bus operator unit.
• Using a second device, i.e. the internal memory of a second bus operator unit
connected to the KNX bus.
Backing up to a second device is sensible especially when the bus operator unit needs
replacement due to compatibility issues.
Backup stores the following settings:
• Device list including device names, order, and display format.
• Favorites pages along with all data points.
• Names and order of Favorites pages.
• Display settings for fault status messages on the bus (see Section 8.5, Display bus
fault status m
essages).
No other settings (device address, language, etc.) are saved.
The bus operator unit restarts following successful restoration of settings.
The following status messages are displayed dependent on the respective action:
