Description
The Powers Pneumatic Enthalpy Transmitter-Comparator System consists of two direct
acting, one-pipe transmitters that sense enthalpy, that is, total heat and an enthalpy
comparator. The transmitters are located in the outdoor air and return air. The enthalpy
comparator is a logic element that compares the enthalpy signals sensed by the two
transmitters. The comparator selects the lowest enthalpy air source (mixing versus
recirculation with minimum outdoor air) as the input to the mechanical cooling
equipment to minimize energy consumption.
Features
Single sensor enthalpy measurement
Easy installation and calibration
Quick response

Application
The most common application is to use this enthalpy transmitter-comparator system to
position the outdoor air, return air, and exhaust air dampers to provide the lowest
enthalpy air as mixed air for cooling. See Figure 1.
The output of the comparator is a low capacity signal. If a large capacity signal is
required, add an amplifying relay whenever a minimum pressure relay is not used.
