6. Select a feedback spring(s).
a. Find the stem travel from Table 2.
b. If the stem travel exactly matches the
nominal spring travel range in Table 3, read
across the row to find the part number of the
spring(s) you need.
c. If the stem travel does not match a nominal
spring travel range in Table 2, select the
spring which has a nominal value less than
the stem travel and a maximum allowable
greater than the stem travel. Read across
the row to find the part number of the
spring(s) you need.
d. Remove the spring(s) from the spring card.

* Use 147-298 (small green) spring for this valve.
7. Connect the feedback spring(s) (2) between the
spring guide and the adjusting screw (3). If more
than one feedback spring is required, connect
them in a series end to end.
8. Thread one wing nut (4), the lock washer (5),
and the flat washer (6) onto the adjusting screw.
See Figure 2.

Figure 2. Attaching the Adjusting Screw to the Spring
Arm.
9. Slide the adjusting screw through the spring
arm. Thread the remaining wing nut onto the
adjusting screw. Tighten the wing nuts so that
there is no slack in the spring, but do not stretch
the spring.
NOTE: Adjust the spring arm so that the
adjusting screw and the feedback spring
are parallel to the valve stem.
10. Attach the connector (9) to the actuator. See
Figure 1.
