6.4 M-bus (POL467.75/STD)
M-bus introduction
The M-bus (Meter bus) is a European standard for remote readout of heat meters.
It is also suited for use with all other types of consumption meters plus various
sensors and actuators.
For more information on M-bus, visit www.MBus.com.
M-bus for POL467
The POL467 has a built-in M-bus server which can collect data from up to 3 M-bus
meters directly connected to connector T8 on POL467. Refer to the datasheet for
wiring.
In the M-bus network, POL467 acts as an M-bus master and periodically requests
data points from M-bus devices. The SAPRO Engineering tool engineers
applications with integrated M-bus meters. The commissioning tool SCOPE defines
M-bus mapping (M-bus meter and its related data points (bindings) are integrated
(mapped) to the controller).
M-bus interface
Terminal 1 interface on terminal T8
Bus connection CM+ / CM-
Bus electronic Galvanically isolated
Bus cable 2 wires, interchangeable
Number of M-bus devices
Up to 3 M-bus devices, such as heat, water or
electricity meters, can be directly connected to the
POL467 controller.
If more than 3 M-bus devices are used, a repeater
must be set after the 2
nd
M-bus device in order to
regenerate the M-bus signal. Up to 64 M-bus
devices can be connected in this case.
Number of data points (binding)
Max. 200 data points can be integrated over the
M-bus module to the controller.
Tool for M-bus mapping

SCOPE tool
Configuration of the mapped M-bus devices and
their required data points (bindings)
Manufacturer specific data structures
Manufacturer specific data structures (VIF = 7FH
or FFh) cannot be mapped to POL467.
User definable VIF’s in plain ASCII-String
User definable VIF’s in plain ASCII-String (VIF =
7Ch or FCh) cannot be mapped to POL467.
Readout selection of all VIF’s
Readout selections of all VIF’s (VIF = 7Eh or FEh)
cannot be mapped to POL467
Extension indicator FBh or FDh
The extension indicator FBh is supported.
Extension indicator FDh is not supported and
therefore only total energy and total power values
can be integrated from electric meters.
Baud rate 300 / 600 / 1200 / 2400 / 4800 / 9600 baud
Type of addressing
Supports primary addressing using the addresses
1 to 250 as well as secondary addressing.
M-bus engineering procedure
Do the following to integrate M-bus meters to a controller:
1. Prepare an application in SAPRO
2. Load the application into the controller (MBRTcomp.UCF file)
