Functionality
The BACnet Driver provides communication between the APOGEE® Automation
System and the BACnet system.
The BACnet Driver operates in two modes: BACnet MS/TP mode or BACnet/IP mode.
Both modes are exclusive and cannot be used together at the same time.
The BACnet Driver can be loaded into PXC Modular or PXC-36 hardware. The driver is
a microprocessor-based, multi-tasking platform designed for multi-system
communication and control.
● When using a P2 ALN, the BACnet Driver communicates with Insight software,
other APOGEE field panels and controllers, and the BACnet system.
● When using a BACnet ALN, the BACnet Driver communicates with Insight
workstation or Desigo CC management station software, other APOGEE field
panels and controllers, and the BACnet system.
Through the Insight workstation or Desigo CC management station, the BACnet points
can be monitored and commanded. The BACnet points integrated into the APOGEE
Automation System can be accessed by system applications, such as Powers Process
Control Language (PPCL), scheduling, trending, and alarming.
The BACnet Driver will not affect, in any way, the operating sequence or safeties as
factory-programmed into the BACnet system.
The BACnet Driver is fully compatible with the BACnet Field Panel Web Server
(FPWeb). You can now incorporate the benefits of FPWeb user interface and Launch
Pad™ in combination with this popular Integration Driver. This driver is also compatible
with FIN Builder and FINlite based graphics, which are licensed options. Integrated
points are fully available in FIN Builder graphics, plus the controller database is
supported by the FPWeb configuration tools.
Keys to Success
Ensure that all BACnet equipment to be integrated is supported by the BACnet Driver.
Benefits
Systems integration brings the powerful facility control capabilities of the APOGEE
Automation System together with BACnet system. Integrating the BACnet points allows
both systems to operate as a single system providing marked advantages in the
following:
● Reduced operating and training costs.
● Increased employee productivity.
● Increased diagnostic capabilities to extend equipment life.
● Improved systems information and control.
● Maximized energy savings.
● Selection of specific BACnet points.
● Flexible point names of BACnet third-party devices.
● Use Read Property Multiple on a point-by-point basis to improve system
performance.
● Create one application that represents points from one or more third-party BACnet
devices.
