Installation Procedure
NOTE:
Use a hard copy device throughout this
procedure (e.g., MCR Printer) to aid Field
Support if problems arise. If any
unexpected error messages are
encountered, call Field Support before
proceeding.
1. Log in on an MCR terminal.
2. Type
@[10,1]KILL
and press
<RETURN>
.
Wait for the ”@<EOF>” message to signify the
end of the KILL procedure.
• If this is
not a dual disk system and DL1: is
not used for Checkpointing, continue with
Step 3.
• If this
is a dual disk system or DL1: is used
for Checkpointing:
Type
ACS DL1:/BLKS=0
and press
RETURN
.
(Do not worry if you see the message "ACS--
File not in use")
Type
DMO DL1:/DEV
and press
<RETURN>
.
Remove the Secondary disk from Drive DL1:
3. Insert the Update disk/tape in the system
SECONDARY DRIVE.
4. Type
@[3,352]UPDATE
and press
<RETURN>
.
5. Carefully follow all instructions as directed by the
UPDATE command file.
6. At the end of the Update command file, you will
be instructed to HALT the system, then to reboot
in the usual manner.
After this is done, make a new back-up of the
system immediately.
7. The Update Master disk(s)/tape should be
returned to the branch where it can be used for
additional conversions of this media type (e.g.,
TK50 tape or RL02).
Expected Installation Time
1 Hour
The expected installation time does not include
making backups before or after installing the
Update.
