for Minicomputers Software Updates

Product Description
Updates are software upgrades for System 600
Insight for Minicomputers jobs under warranty or
software service contract.
The Update procedure is system independent (with
the exception of RL02 disk Active systems). This
means that the same Update disk(s) or tape can be
used to update different Insight for Minicomputers
jobs that use the same media (e.g., TK50 tape).
Refer to the Release Notes included with this update
for detailed information on specific problem
resolutions and any enhancements included.
Required Tools
Master disk(s) or tape for the particular
media.
Extra disk(s) or tape for new system back-up
after the Update is installed.
Prerequisites
Updates can only be applied in ascending
numerical order (i.e., a K.0 update cannot be
applied to a job already running K.1).
A current system backup.
Familiarity with the operation of the disk/tape
drives on this system.
Read the Release Notes included with this
update to determine if the corrections/
enhancements included in this Update are
needed for this job.
Definitions
The following terms are used to describe the system
disk/tape drives and system software.
PRIMARY DISK DRIVE: Main Disk drive the Insight
for Minicomputers software runs on.
SECONDARY DRIVE: Disk/tape drive used to
perform back-ups.
NOTE:
When you see <RETURN> press the
Return key once. Actual keystroke entries
are printed in BOLD typeface.
Instructions
Osprey Software Update Procedure
(PC-11 K.1 Only)
1. Shut down the Insight software. Press ALT+C
and choose option 4 and press <RETURN> to
exit the Osprey software and return to DOS.
2. Load the floppy labeled Revision K.1 Osprey
Update into drive A:.
3. Load the Reinstallation Disk, Revision 3.0 into
the SyQuest (drive D:).
4. At the DOS prompt type A:\UPDATE and press
<RETURN>.
5. When the update procedure is finished, place
the Reinstallation Disk, Revision 3.1 label over
the old label on the Reinstallation Disk.
6. Start the Osprey software and continue with
the Installation Procedure
