Alarm Management

Description
The Alarm Management function is a comprehensive
application to enable building operators to receive and
react appropriately to out-of-normal conditions.
The Alarm Management function does the following:
• routes alarm printing by point or alarm severity;
• annunciates customized alarm messages to
provide instructions to the building operator;
• assigns floating alarm limits and differentials to
time delays to filter nuisance alarms.
Purpose
Problem detection and fast resolution: the Alarm
Management function allows building managers to
route alarm messages and instructions to the location
best equipped to respond to the alarm. Alarms can be
categorized as a routine maintenance type or more
critical failure alarms that require immediate attention.
Because operators can differentiate between the
"immediate action required" type and routine follow up
maintenance alerts, they can prioritize their daily
activities. This allows the building operator to handle
system alarms before they become big problems.
The ability to route alarms to security guard stations, a
maintenance office, a facility manager’s desk, or
initiate a connection to a remote location via modem
enables building operators to send alarms to the
