Benefits of Terminal Services
Insight software can be deployed and managed from a
central server location, saving administrators initial
deployment time, as well as the time and effort
required for software maintenance and updates. Once
the Insight software is deployed using Terminal
Services, many clients can connect through a remote
access dial-up connection, local area network (LAN),
or wide area network (WAN).In addition, clients can be
Windows or non-Windows based.
Terminal Services Licensing
The Terminal Services Option for Insight must be
installed on the designated Insight Database Server,
which must have Windows Server 2012 R2 or 2008
R2. Each client, regardless of the type of operating
system and protocol used to connect to Terminal
Services, must have the Microsoft Terminal Services
Client Access License (CAL) as well as the standard
Windows Server CAL, obtained separately from
Microsoft.
Each client session using Terminal Services will
consume a standard Insight user license. Therefore,
the Insight server must have enough Insight user
licenses available to support the desired amount of
concurrent sessions.
