been successful and that Revision K.0 is
working properly. You should make a backup
using TAPEBACK as soon as possible.
26. The original Revision K.0 tape should be
returned to the Branch where it can be used for
additional conversions for this system type to
Revision K.0.
27. After the K.0 installation is complete, BRU DU0:
to tape and then BRU the tape back to DU0: to
recover contiguous space.
Expected Installation Time
Conversion from:
Revision J.8: 4.0
hours.
Revision K.0 (Pre-release): 3.5 hours.
PC-11 Conversion Procedure
Required Tools:
• Master cartridge from Home Office for the
particular system that is being upgraded
• Bootable Loading Cartridge
• One SyQuest cartridge for backup
• Revision K.0 release notes
Definitions
The following terms are used to describe the system
disk drives and system software:
Old
Current job site software (Revision J.8 or pre-
release K.0)
New
Revision K.0 software shipped from Home
Office
Installation Procedure:
1. Log onto an MCR terminal.
2. Shut down the system. Type
@[10,1]KILL
and
press
<RETURN>
.
3. Back up the old system. Type
@[3,352]TAPEBACK
and press
<RETURN>
.
4. When the backup procedure is complete, mark
the BRU'D copy "Old." Halt the system by
pressing
ALT+C
. Choose
option 4
from the
menu and return to DOS.
5. Edit the file C:\OSPREY\OSPREY.CNF to
change the Osprey configuration from Auto Boot
to Conversational Boot. The following file section
shows the setup for Conversational Boot:
;J11File = OSPREY.AUT ;Auto boot
J11File = OSPREY.J11 ;Convers. Boot
6. Before beginning the K.0 Conversion procedure
on a PC-11, it is necessary to update the Osprey
software.
7. Insert the Osprey Update SyQuest into the drive.
At the DOS prompt type
D:
and press
<RETURN>
.
Type
UPDATE
and press
<RETURN>
.
At the end of the update, the following message
will appear:
Insert disk with batch file
Press any key to continue . . .
Press
CTRL+C
. The following message
displays:
Terminate batch job (Y/N)?
Type
Y
and press
<RETURN>
. The update is
complete.
8. Remove the Osprey software update SyQuest
cartridge and insert the Revision K.0 Bootable
Loading Tape into the SyQuest drive.
9. Change the directory to C:\OSPREY. Type
OSPREY
and press
<RETURN>
at the DOS
prompt to invoke the Osprey software. The
program displays the following screen:

The startup code version and date may be different
on your machine. Any key other than
ESC
will re-
display the startup code version screen. The startup
code displays a menu of options after it receives
ESC. It is possible at this point, that the ESC key on
the LA120 will not work. If this is the case, then
follow the proceeding instructions. Otherwise,
continue with the next step.
If the ESC key on the LA120 does not work, then the
PC-11 setup must be modified to so that the PC
becomes TT0:. To accomplish this, at the PC type
ALT+C
and choose option 4 from the menu to return
to DOS. Edit the file C:\OSPREY\OSPREY.CNF,
and modify the following two lines as shown.
