11/93 Loading Procedure
Required Tools
• Master tape or cartridge from Home Office
for the particular system that is being
upgraded (TK50)
• Revision K.0 Bootable Loading
Tape/Cartridge
• One spare TK50 cartridge tape for backup
• Revision K.0 release notes
Installation Procedure:
1. Log onto an MCR terminal.
2. Shut down the system. Type
@[10,1]KILL
and
press
<RETURN>
.
3. Back up the old system. Type
@[3,352]TAPEBACK
and press
<RETURN>
.
4. When the backup procedure is complete, HALT
the system and mark the BRU'D copy "Old."
5. Set DIP switch number 5 of the console/serial
line unit switch to the ON position. This switch
must be in the ON position to allow the
minicomputer to boot from the tape drive. Refer
to Figure 1-1 for the location of the console/
serial line unit switch.
6. Insert the Revision K.0 Bootable Loading Tape
into the tape drive and move the lever to the
locked position. The yellow light labeled “Tape In
Use” flashes while the tape is loading.
7. When the yellow light is steadily illuminated,
press the
Halt
button to illuminate the red Halt
light; press it again to extinguish the red light.
8. Boot the system from the loading tape as
follows:
If TT0 is a printer, then press the
Restart
button
on the front of the minicomputer and wait for the
following prompt to display at TT0:
Commands are: [Boot, Diagnostic, Help,
List, Map, Setup, Toy]
Type a command then press
<RETURN>
.
Select Boot. Type
B MU0:
and press
<RETURN>
.
Continue with Step 9.
If TT0 is a CRT, then use the arrow keys on the
keyboard to select MU from the device portion of
the setup screen as shown below:

. Continue with Step 9.
9. The minicomputer begins to boot. When it is
finished, the system displays the following
prompt:
Valid switches are:
/CSR=nnnnnn to change the default
device CSR
/VEC=nnn to change the default device
vector
/FOR=n to change the default magtape
formatter number
/DEV to list all default device CSR and
vectors
Enter first device:
10. Enter the CSR and vector addresses for the first
device by typing
MU:/CSR=174500/VEC=260
and pressing
<RETURN>

The system prompts you for the second device:
