Operating the handset
Inserting the battery
Replace
cover and push gently
upward
until it clicks into place.
Insert the battery
ensuring correct polarity
see figure on left.
To open,
press the grooved area on the cover and slide
back

Handset: Charging the battery
Before switching on your handset, place it in the charging station with
the display at the top.
Leave the handset in the charging station for about 5.5 hours to charge
the battery; it is supplied non-charged. Battery charging is indicated on
the handset by flashing of the charge status display:
The display is protected by a plastic film.
Remove
the protective plastic film!
Only insert the recommended rechargeable battery
(see page 91).
Do not use any other charging devices as that could damage
the battery.

The charging process is electronically controlled. This pro-
tects the battery and ensures it will be charged in the best
possible way. The battery will heat up while being charged;
this is normal and poses no hazard.
As the batterys charge status will only be correctly dis-
played after uninterrupted charging/discharging, the bat-
tery compartment must not be opened unnecessarily.
