6. Hold disc holder firmly (in a vise if possible).
Then, using a 7/16-inch hex wrench for 1/2-inch
and 3/4-inch valves and an 11/16-inch hex for
1-inch through 2-inch valves, loosen stem head
retainer and remove stem extension and disc
assembly from stem. Replace stem extension
and disc assembly.
7. If only the discs are being replaced, hold stem
extension and disc assembly in a vise. Use a
11/32-inch hex wrench for 1/2-inch valves,
15/32-inch hex for 3/4-inch valves, 5/8-inch hex
for 1-inch and 1-1/4 inch valves, and a 9/16-inch
hex for 1-1/2 inch and 2-inch valves. Loosen and
remove nut at bottom of assembly to gain
access to discs. Remove discs and replace.
After assembling and tightening nut, at bottom of
assembly on 1/2-inch and 3/4-inch size valves,
stake it (with hammer, and punch in four places)
to stem assembly to prevent it from becoming
loose in service.
8. Reassemble valve in reverse order.
The installation is now complete.
