Example
The IfOperStatus.1 variable determines the operating state (up, down) of Port 1
6 Important Information and Limitations
6.1 Number of PNIO Devices
The current implementation of the system adaptation only permits one device instance. Multidevice functionality is
not currently implemented in the system adaptation.
6.2 Parameters for One Device
• For the current implementation, 32 modules (slots) with up to 8 subslots were tested and released.
• Maximum module size: 254 bytes
• Isochronous cycle time: 1 to 4 ms in increments of 250 µs
6.3 Maximum Number of User Data for One Device
The maximum number of process data for IRT is determined by the maximum message frame size (1,434 bytes
net) and the number of PhysicalSlots (parameters in the GSDML file). The maximum data length in bytes
(attributes MaxInputLength and MaxOutputLength in the GSDML file) is 1,434 bytes of data minus 2 times the
number of PhysicalSlots.
Example for one IO device with 16 PhysicalSlots: 1,402 bytes of maximum user data
Example for one IO device with 32 PhysicalSlots: 1,370 bytes of maximum user data
6.4 Functional Limitations
The following functions are not included in the current version:
• Redundant connections
• Takeover of modules by supervisor
• Device direct data exchange
• RT over UDP
• MRP (medium redundancy protocol)
6.5 Resource Requirements
The following resources are assigned in the current implementation (incl. operating system):
• 1,4 Mbytes of flash memory compressed
• 18 Mbytes of SDRAM
• Timer 0
