needed. Low flow fault will be detected if the Supply air flow is less than the Supply air
flow setpoint by the configured flow tolerance. SU FLOW FLT will be set to Low Flow.
Test 4: Heating valve actuator
To test the SU H TMP FLT, the terminal box should initially be in neutral zone. If
necessary, command RM TEMP SHFT such that the terminal box is not in heating.
Disconnect the heating output by removing power to the valve actuator. Command the
RM TEMP SHFT high enough so that the terminal box goes into heating mode. Monitor
SU H TMP FLT. When Supply air temperature is less than Supply air temperature
setpoint by the heating temperature tolerance value, the SU H TMP FLT will be Lo
Temp.
Test 5: Feedback loop tuning fault – unstable airflow
Set the Integral time (Tn) parameter of the Supply air VAV air flow controller (Room
Segment > Favorite terminal control) to 0.6 secs.
Note: The test calls for setting value to 50x current value, but since this is Integral time,
you must divide the value by 50. Default value is 30 secs (30 / 50 = 0.6 secs).
To place the VAV box into full cooling, command RM TEMP SHFT low enough that the
box goes into cooling mode. As the damper cycles open and closed to be at flow
setpoint – simulating unstable tuning – the SU UNSTB FLT will be set to Fault after the
configured number of cycles have occurred within the position change time limit.
This fault must be manually reset by changing the trigger point SU UNSTB RST to
Reset.
Test 6: Disconnect inlet duct
To place the damper to minimum position, command RM TEMP SHFT to a value that
reduces heating/cooling load to minimum. Remove power to actuator and release
setpoint to normal. Monitor SU FLOW FLT.
When finished, reconnect power to actuator and proceed with Test 7.
Test 7: Discharge air temperature sensor
Command RM TEMP SHFT to a value that results in raising the room temperture
setpoint to a value high enough above room temperature that the box goes into heating
mode. Verify supply air temperature resets to maximum setpoint while the airflow
maintains deadband airflow.
After supply air temperature reaches maximum setpoint, verify airflow rate increases to
maximum flow rate to meet heating load.
Test does not require an alarm to be generated; this is just a functionality test. It is
recommended to use dynamic plotter during testing to prove functionality.
Plot the following points: AIR VOL SP, AIR VOLUME, RM TEMP EVAL, HTG FLOW
MAX.
