1 Introduction to predictive heating
controller
The predictive heating controller application allows for controlling a heating group
with mixing circuit control, pump, and modulating valve. To this end, the controller
calculates the optimum flow temperature setpoint based on building model and
outside temperature forecast. As an option, the controller independently adapts the
building model to the building based on measured data. The predictive and
adaptive heating controller based on a heating model combines the following
elements:
Outside temperature forecast
- The outside temperature forecast is derived either from the actual block
based on past outside temperature measurements
- or the forecast is provided to the block from an external source.
Heating curve adaptation
Adaptation of building model parameters
Model-based optimization of energy consumption and comfort
Boost heating and switch-off optimization
Heating enabling
Adapting the building model parameters reduces commissioning and maintenance
costs and results in energy savings. Both transition between boost heating and
comfort mode as well as the response to tightly dimensioned heat output can be
improved thanks to excellent control response. Predictive control increases energy
efficiency resulting in lower emissions without sacrificing comfort.
The innovative and patented application is modular in design and includes a
number of plant variants to control heating circuits.
It is the very first, classic, model-predictive control in building automation and
control offered as part of a building automation and control system of a leading
supplier.
