Video Surveillance
The use of video surveillance technology
is one of the most widely employed
security measures in a stadium environ-
ment. It is used primarily by security
authorities for visual surveillance and
for the assessment of situations, such as:
crowd congestion, anti-social behavior,
illegal ticket or merchandise sales or
detecting abandoned objects, particu -
larly in emergency exits etc.
Siemens delivers complete infra-
structure solutions for major sports
and entertainment facilities all over
the world. References exist in more
than 150 stadiums and arenas.
Should a security incident occur, the
video stream from the entrance, along
with the personal information from
the access control system, can provide
important evidential material.
In addition, video surveillance can also
act as a deterrent resulting in less van-
dalism, for example, due to the quick
response capabilities and reaction time
as well as providing visitors with a greater
sense of safety.
