7.2 Creating a New Project using a template
You have installed the necessary Extension Modules.
1. Launch SMC if not already opened, either from the MS Windows Start menu, or using the SMC
desktop shortcut .
2. In the Console tree, select the Projects node.
Management screen.
3. In the toolbar, click Create Project from Template.
The Select Project Template Folder dialog box displays.
4. Browse to C:\GMSProjects > GMSMainProject > ProjTemplates and select either
Template_Fire_UL or Template_Fire_ULC.
5. Click OK.
The Restore Project page displays.
6. Open the Server Project Information expander, if not already open, and provide the details as
follows:
- In the Project Name, type the name of the new project. The project name cannot start with a
hyphen (-).
- For the Project Path, click Browse for the target directory where the directory containing the
project name is created. The default project path is [installation drive:]\ GMSProjects.
- Accept the default port numbers for Pmon, Data, Event, HDB Reader and CCom ports.
7. In the Server Project Information expander, use the Linked HDB combo box to select the HDB to
link to the new project. Select (local)\GMS_HDB_EXPRESS\Siemens_HBD.
8. Click Save Project. A dialog box will be displayed to confirm saving the project.
A message displays.
9. Click OK to initiate the project creation or click Cancel to abort.
If confirmed, the data entered during project creation, including the HDB selected, is validated
and saved.
On successful project creation, the new project node is created as a child under the Projects node
in the Console tree. If it is in the Stopped state, you can start, edit, or delete it.
- A project folder structure is created with subfolders and files at the specified path.
- A Pmon service is created in the MS Windows services using the System user in the format
GMS_WCCILpmon_ [project name]. This service provides support for Desigo CC Runtime
Systems.
