History Databases with Named Instance
7.1.2 Creating a New HDB
1. In the Console tree, select History Infrastructure > [MS SQL Server Name]. Default SQL
server name = (local)\GMS_HDB_EXPRESS.
2. Click Add .
3. Select the Settings expander and type or click the following data:
- HDB Name: Suggested name to use: Siemens_HDB (do not insert a space). The name is
freely-definable designation for the HDB (do not use special characters).
- Database size: Set the size of the HDB to 10 GB (the default).
- Accept default values for the rest of the fields in the settings expander.
4. Under the Files and Paths expander:
- Data file: Accept default value
- Log file: Accept default value
- Backup file: Accept default value
- Recovery log path: Accept default value
5. Under the Security expander and accept all default values.
6. Click Save .
7. Click Yes to confirm or No to cancel.
 If confirmed, the History Database is created and displayed in the Console tree. Creation may
take a few minutes depending on the selected database size.
 The History Database starts automatically.
 History data is logged after linking to the project.
