Malicious activation of manual call points
The malicious activation of manual call points can be very disruptive to school life
• Often regarded by pupils as a prank (to avoid disliked lessons, exams, etc.)
• One event can easily lead to numerous copy-cat incidents
Difficult to prevent as they serve an important function
• Manual call points should be located in easily supervised areas
• They may also be fitted with a hinged cover
è Operation: The cover must be lifted before the call point can be activated
è Experience: This simple measure can often act as an effective deterrent
