Product Description
NEMA Type 4X Weather Shield Kit for use with GBB,
GCA, GDE, GEB, GIB, GLB, GMA, and GQD OpenAir
Actuators. This weather shield provides protection
against the elements for actuators installed onto
dampers in indoor or outdoor installations. The
weather shield is easy to install, with all necessary
hardware included in the kit.
NOTE: This unit is approved for NEMA 4X protection
only when used with a water-tight conduit
connector(s).

Prerequisites
• See the installation instructions that come with the
actuator for additional details on the function and
wiring of the actuator.
• Obtain appropriate outdoor electrical fittings
needed for connection to the 1/2-inch knockout.

Installation
1. Using a conduit knockout punch, make a hole(s)
through the weather shield at the preferred conduit
location(s).
2. Ensure that the damper is in the desired location
for assembly of the un-powered OpenAir™
actuator being mounted.
NOTE: You can mount the Weather Shield Kit in
any orientation.
CAUTION:
The damper shaft length must be
between 2.5” (63.5 mm) Max. and 1.0”
(25.4 mm) Min.
3. Assemble NEMA Type 4X Shaft Adapter Assembly
to the damper shaft. No special orientation is
required. Tighten the 10 mm hex nut to 7.5 ft-lb
(10 Nm).
