Product Description

This kit provides for tandem mounting of the

modulating GCA161…, GCA166…, GIB161…, and

GIB166… OpenAir™ actuators on a damper shaft.

• Phillips screwdriver

• Adjustable wrench

Expected Installation Time

15 to 30 minutes

Prerequisites

Measure the damper shaft. The minimum length for

tandem mounting is 4 inches (200 mm).

Refer to the installation instructions that come with

the actuator for additional details on the function and

wiring of the actuator.

Installation

1. Determine whether the damper blade rotation is

clockwise or counterclockwise.

2. For both GCA actuators

Choose the side of the actuator with the

corresponding arrow of rotation.

For both GIB actuators

With the label side facing you, set the

direction of rotation switch to match the

damper blade rotation on each actuator.

129-290 Installation Instructions Rev. 1, October, 1999 3. Insert the shaft adapter into one actuator from behind. 4. Slip the actuator over the damper shaft. See Figure 2. 5. Finger tighten the shaft adapter to the shaft. 6. Place the tandem mounting bracket beneath the actuator so that the tang of the bracket fits into the slot in the actuator housing. 7. With a pencil, mark the location of two holes in the bracket. 8. Remove the actuator from the damper shaft. 9.
