Features
In design terms, the main control unit is based on a modern server PC.
The mini-tower incorporates spare PCI slots for quick-installation I/O cards, and a built-
in graphics processor.
The Pentium 4 processor has a clock speed of 3.4 GHz and 2 GB RAM.
The SCSI hard disk has hotplug capability and a capacity of 73 GB. A maximum
of 4 hard disks can be plugged in at RAID level 5.
The first operator station, which also incorporates the system console, can be
connected via the built-in graphics processor (not included, but a TFT monitor is
recommended). Other operator stations are connected via the terminal bus.
There is an onboard network card with an RJ45 twisted-pair connection. Also supplied
are a 3m 10BaseT cable and a DVD R/W drive (including CD R/W).
Optional extras
• PCI watchdog module with 4 volt-free outputs
• Data backup: DAT streamer (DDS-5) with a capacity of 36 GB
• Port extender to increase the number of serial ports (e.g. for message printer).
• System bus adapter for Industrial Ethernet
• Clock: serial radio clock module for DCF 77
• Hard disks for memory expansion and for mirroring during operation, up to RAID
level 5.
• RAID controller for RAID Level 5
• E/P link for connection of SIMATIC S7 via PROFIBUS
• S5 link to accommodate ISA modules when replacing a computer
• Uninterruptible power supply (UPS)
Software
The operating system is SuSE Linux 8.2.
Data archiving and data management are handled by the Oracle Workgroup Server V9.
Both these components are supplied as part of the SICLIMAT X basic software
package V4.0. However, they are not a part of the package described in this data sheet.
