Ethernet PROFIBUS Link

E/P Link

The network Ethernet/PROFIBUS link (E/P link) used as part of the SICLIMAT

process bus helps connect the two standard protocols of building automation

and control, i.e., PROFIBUS (automation level) and Ethernet TCP/IP (management

level).

The E/P link allows for connecting SIMATIC S7 series 300 and 400 via PROFIBUS

communication to the SICLIMAT X building management system. As a result,

SIMATIC S7 automation stations can be operated and monitored from the

SICLIMAT X-OS via the PROFIBUS.

For support purposes, the E/P link features an integrated web server.

Use The E/P link enables data exchange between the SIMATIC S7 automation stations and SICLIMAT X via PROFIBUS. In this case, the PROFIBUS is implemented physically on the Ethernet so that the standard Ethernet connection can be used at the SICLIMAT X. The E/P link can be operated together with other network members on the Ethernet (e.g. further E/P links or SIMATIC S7 automation stations). On the PROFIBUS, the E/P link supports the known SICLIMAT PROFIBUS topologies for process and local bus.

Properties The E/P link supports up to 30 active PROFIBUS devices. If the number of devices exceeds 30, install another E/P link. SIMATIC automation stations directly attached to the E/P link are considered active devices (process bus devices). The PROFIBUS parameters (baud rate, highest station address) and the TCP/IP network parameters (subnet, router) can be configured on the E/P link. On the Ethernet side, the E/P link uses exactly one freely selectable TCP/IP address.
