The X-terminals are used in the SICLIMAT X system as fully graphics-capable

operator stations.

Use

The SICLIMAT X user interface is based on the X-Windows system, which allows the

separation of the user interface (X-server) from the actual program (X-client). The

information to be displayed is exchanged between the X-client and the X-server via the

X11 protocol.

This concept underlies the running of all SICLIMAT X program modules on the X-OS.

The user interface (plant graphics, project engineering etc.) is displayed on the

X-terminals.

Features Essentially, the X-terminal comprises the following components: • Base unit (with processor, graphics unit, main memory and network adapter) • Monitor • Keyboard and mouse The X-terminal is connected to the X OS operator station via a local network (LAN), referred to as the “terminal bus”. The connection is as follows: • 10/100BaseT twisted pair (auto-sensing) Connecting a printer All X-terminals have a serial port for connection of a message printer.
