Select Prompt to accept invitation to have the system issue a prompt to the user when
another user sends a presence invitation.
Migrating IM and Presence Users to a Service Appliance
To move IM and Presence users from a legacy ShoreTel IM Server to a Service Appliance, follow
these steps:
1. Launch ShoreTel Director.
2. Click Administration > Users > Individual Users.
The Individual Users page appears.
3. Select the user that you want to move to the Service Appliance.
The Users page appears.
4. Locate the Instant Messaging Settings section, and in the Server/Appliance field select the Service
Appliance that you want the user to use for IM and Presence.
5. Click Save.
6. Notify the end-user to uninstall and then install Outlook calendar integration in ShoreTel
Communicator for Windows if they are using Outlook calendar-integration. Refer to ShoreTel
Communicator for Windows User Guide for instructions about how to configure Outlook calendar
integration.
Upgrade
When the ShoreTel system is upgraded, users running older versions of ShoreTel Communicator or
Call Manager may be informed that they must upgrade. Upgrades of the system may not require client
upgrades. Refer to the online knowledge base on the ShoreCare web site to determine if a system
upgrade requires client modifications.
User Licensing
ShoreTel offers three user license types:
Extension and mailbox
Extension-only
Mailbox-only
Note
The Presence Invitation Handling field only appears when a Service Appliance is enabled for the
user and the IM Presence Invitation Handling parameter in the Class of Service profile used for
user group to which the user is associated with is configured to allow the user to make this
selection.
