6. In the Sessions Timeout field, enter the duration, in minutes, that you want the system to keep an
IM session open without an exchange before timing out.
7. Click Save.
Configuring the IM Class of Service
1. Launch ShoreTel Director.
2. Click Administration > Users > Class of Service.
The Class of Service page appears.
3. In the Telephony Features Permissions section, select the feature class to which you want to add
IM services.
The Users page containing the profile of the user you selected appears.
4. From the IM Presence Invitation Handling drop-down menu, select one of the following options:
User defined: Allows the user to choose how to handle IM invitations.
Auto accept invitation: Forces IM invitations to be accepted automatically. The invitee still must
invite the inviter.
Prompt to accept invitation: User is prompted when a new invitation is issued.
5. Click Save.
Configuring IM
1. Launch ShoreTel Director.
2. Click Administration > Users > Individual Users. The Individual Users page appears.
3. Select the user for whom you want to enable the service.
The Users page containing the profile of the user you selected appears.
4. Scroll down to Instant Messaging Settings section near the bottom of the page.
5. In the Server/Appliance field, select the Service Appliance that you want the user to use for IM.
6. In the Presence Invitation Handling field, select one of the following options:
Select Auto accept invitation to have the system automatically accept a presence invitation
for the user.
Note
If you are using an SSL certificate, select the Enable TLS check box to allow users to encrypt IM
messages using Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol.
