Figure 13: Site Edit Page
The Local Area Code and Additional Local Area Codes set on the Site edit page have nothing to do
with the Local Area Code, Additional Local Area Codes, and Nearby Area Codes on the Trunk Group
edit page. Area codes on the Site edit page relate only to digit collection, whereas those on the Trunk
Group edit page relate only to Network Call Routing and Digit Manipulation.
Complete the following steps to define 7-digit dialing:
1. Open the Site edit page in ShoreTel Director.
2. Enter the 3-digit area code in Local Area Code.
Configuring 10-Digit Local Dialing
If the site is in a location with overlay area codes, it can be configured to support 10-digit dialing for all
the local area codes. The Additional Local Area Codes field on the Site edit page defines the area
codes for 10-digit dialing. When a user dials an access code followed by a local area code, the system
collects 7 additional digits, which comes to 10 digits total, before stopping digit collection. The
switching software then converts the 10-digit number into canonical format before checking call
permissions and doing network call routing.
Defining 10-digit dialing
1. Open the Site edit page in ShoreTel Director.
2. Click Edit next to the Additional Local Area Codes field.
