just a couple of inches below the dog’s ears. The collar should be
pretty snug on the dog’s neck and it should not dangle. If the collar
is too loose, the contact points will not be touching your dog and it
will not work. A good indicator that the collar is fit properly is if
you can fit two fingers under the collar. Never over tighten as this
will put a lot of pressure of the prongs on the neck. A collar that is
too tight will increase the risk of pressure necrosis in the contact
area.
Do not put any fingers under the strap as you tighten it and check
after several minutes if the collar is still fitted correctly. This is
something you should do regularly as well as checking and cleaning
the area under the neck.
