Recording an Announcement
The PMP-3880 answering system has one Primary Mailbox and four individual
Mailboxes (1, 2, 3, 4), each of which can receive their own incoming Messages.
Before using the answering system, it is suggested that you record an Outgoing
Message (OGM). This is the announcement that the caller will hear when the
systems answers a call.
The default announcement “Please record your message after the beep” is
played if no personal OGM has been recorded.
Recording an announcement for the Primary Mailbox:
It is recommended that you record an OGM on your Primary Mailbox instructing
the caller to leave a message on one of the four mailboxes. If the caller is using
a touchtone telephone, this will enable the caller to record the message directly
into one of the four mailboxes by dialing “110” for mailbox 1, “220” for mailbox 2,
“330” for mailbox 3, and “440” for mailbox 4.
A sample primary OGM: “Hello, please leave a message after the tone; or, if
you are using a touchtone telephone, please dial 110 to leave a message for
Beth, dial 220 for Jenny, dial 330 for Jonathan, or dial 440 for Eric.”
1. Press and hold the key. Begin
speaking after you hear “Please record
your announcement after the beep.” While
you continue to hold down the key,
say the message you want recorded. You
can record a greeting up to 30 seconds
long.
2. When finished, wait a brief second and
then release the key. The PMP-
3880 will say “End of recording” and then
play back your newly recorded message.
Tip: For the best sound quality for recorded messages, speak directly into the base
microphone from a distance of 9-12 inches.
Note: To check your OGM, press the button. If you did not record an
OGM, your answering system will announce “You have no announce-
ment.”
