Specification Sheet
2-IN-1 PRO | 107SU
for Laminate and Engineered Hardwood
INSTALLATION
1. Always consult the in-carton instructions
for the flooring product you are installing
for complete moisture detection guidelines
specific to that product.
2. Check all types of subfloors for moisture
content before proceeding with the
underlayment and flooring installation.
3. Do It Yourself (DIY) customers:
Cut 2' × 2' squares of polyethylene plastic (one
for every 200-sq. ft of floor space). Locate
these in dierent areas
of the floor for a more accurate overall
evaluation. Tape all edges down firmly sealing
them directly to the existing floor. Leave
down for 48 to 72 hours. If moisture forms
under the plastic, or if the cement darkens,
consult a professional installation specialist
for further concrete evaluations, or call the
Shaw Information Center at 1-800-441-7429 for
assistance.
4. Professional Installation Mechanics:
Use a pin probe moisture meter to check wood
or wood-based subfloors. Use a concrete
moisture meter to check all concrete subfloors.
5. Sweep and damp mop the subfloor to
eliminate dust and soil.
6. Make sure nail heads are flush, and smooth out
any other sharp subfloor protrusions such as
splinters or rough areas.
7. On the dry, clean subfloor, roll out one width of
underlayment (install with dark-blue film side
down) in the same direction that the planks
will be installed.
8. Cut the underlayment at the end of each row,
allowing enough additional material to go up
walls at least 2". (This additional underlayment
may later be trimmed to the proper height.)
9. Install the first rows of planks leaving enough
underlayment showing to allow butting and
taping (if necessary) to the next width of
underlayment.
10. Roll out next width of underlayment, butting
seams together. When using the 2-in-1 Pro
product, remember to overlap the poly film
section over the foam.
11. On all concrete subfloors for moisture
protection, you must tape underlayment
seams with 2" clear plastic tape.
NOTE: Shaw Industries Group, Inc. does not
require the use of any additional moisture
barrier when using 2-in-1 Pro underlayment
over concrete, with Shaw Laminate or
Hardwood floating installation products.
However, some flooring manufacturers may
require additional moisture barrier protection
be provided when installing their products.
Always follow the flooring manufacturer’s
written installation instructions with regard to
moisture protection practices.
12. If installing on plywood or other wood based
organic subfloors, do not tape seams of
underlayment.
13. Continue to roll out additional widths of
underlayment and install planks on it before
rolling out the next width of underlayment.
This will help to eliminate damage to the
underlayment.
14. Allow at least 2" of underlayment to go up
wall to be trimmed to the appropriate molding
height, at end of installation, (1/2" for quarter
round, or 2" for standard wallbase.)
