Dear Valued Customer:
We carefully consider the impact of our products throughout their lifecycle on the environment
and on society. For Shaw that means we examine the ingredient materials, the impact of our
supply chain, our use of natural resources and the ability to recover and recycle our products. We
were among the first to embrace and implement this new way of thinking about environmentally
and socially responsible flooring design nearly a decade ago.
We set high standards for ourselves and our suppliers, and we take numerous steps to verify that
our products meet the high expectations of our customers. These steps include:
• Screening production raw materials for chemicals of concern.
• Subscribing to third party product certifications and standards.
• Independent laboratory testing of products before we enter an agreement with a supplier.
• Conduct our own random voluntary testing of a supplier’s products.
Below is an overview of some key sustainability certifications and standards relevant to Shaw’s
carpet and hard surface products.
Green Label Plus
The Carpet and Rug Institute’s Green Label Plus (GLP) program is an ISO accredited indoor air
quality certification program that tests products for emissions of volatile organic compounds
(VOC) and formaldehyde. The testing is performed in accordance with California Department of
Public Health (CDPH) Standard Method v1.2–2017, using independent laboratories that are
themselves ISO/IEC 17025 accredited. GLP certification demonstrates very low levels of VOC
emissions and meets green building program indoor air quality requirements, including LEED.
All Shaw’s residential and commercial carpet products are Green Label Plus certified.
Cradle to Cradle Certified
TM
Cradle to Cradle is a third party certification issued by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation
Institute after rigorous product assessment. The Cradle to Cradle Certified products program
evaluates a product’s performance in five categories:
• Material health
• Material reutilization
• Renewable energy
• Water stewardship
• Social fairness
