Refertoadhesivelabelforpropertrowelrequirements,spreadratesandapplication.
Priortoapplicationofadhesivedetermineifthesubstrateisaporousornon‐poroussubstrate.Followinstructionsontheadhesivelabelforporous
ornon‐poroussubfloor.
IMPORTANT:Recommendedtoperformabondtestinord
ertodetermineadhesiveworkingtimeperjobsiteconditions.Thestrengthofthe
bondtestwillindicatewhetherShaw 9050floorprimerisnecessary.
5.INSTALLINGRESILIENTTILE&PLANKPRODUCTS&FLOORTE™PROPRODUCTS
General:
a. Ensurethatmoisturetestshavebeenconductedandthattheresultsdonotexc
eedtheacceptablemoisturelimitfortheadhesiveused.
b. PHofconcretesub‐floorneedstobebetween5&10.
c. ThepermanentHVACsystemisturnedonandsettoaminimumof65°F(20°C))oramaximumof85°F,foraminimumof72hoursprior
to,duringandaf
terinstallation.Aftertheinstallations,themaximumtemperatureshouldnotexceed85°F.
d. Donotstackmorethan5cartonshigh.
e. Flooringmaterialandadhesivemustbeacclimatedtotheinstallationareaforaminimumof48hourspriortoinstallation.
f. Useappropriatetrowelsi
zeregardingsubstrateporosity
g. Materialshouldalwaysbevisuallyinspectedpriortoinstallat ion.Anymaterialinstalledwithvisualdefectswillnotbeconsidereda
legitimateclaimasitpertainstolaborcost.
h. Installtilesrunninginsamedirection.
i. Ensurethatallrecommendationsforsub‐floorandjobsiteconditionsaremetpriortobeginningtheins
tallation.Directionaldesignsare
optional,however,oncetheinstallationisstarted,youhaveacceptedthoseconditions .

LAYOUTANDINSTALLATIONGENERALRULES:
a. Shawtileandplank‐Installusingconventionaltileandplankinstallationtechniques.Plankproductsshouldhaveaminimumof6–8"
seamstagger.
b. Carefullydeterminewheretobegintileorplankinstallation.
c. Itiscustomarytocenterroomsandhallwayssobordersarenotle
ssthanhalfatileorplank.
d. Workingoutofmultipleboxesatatimeisrecommended.
e. Inhallwaysandsmallspaces,itmaybesimplertoworklengthwisefromoneendusingacenterreferencelineasaguide.
f. Makesurecutedgesarealwaysagainstthewall.
g. ToproperlycutLVT/LVPproductssc
orethetopsideofthe materialwithautilityknife.Bendtheproductandfinishthecutthroughthe
backside.Thiswillensurethecleanestcut.Itmaybenecessarytouseaheatguntocutaroundverticalobstructions.Allowtheheat

LVT/LVPtoreturntoroomtemperaturebeforeinstallation.
h. Cuttingtheproductintoafinepointmayleadtodelamination.UseanethylcyanoacrylatebasedsupergluetohelpfusetheLVT/LVP
pointtogether.Besuretocleanallgluefromthetopsurfaceimmediately.Alcoholbasedsuperglu
esmaycausevinyltoswell.

LayoutoftheRoomforSquarelyLaidFields
Tosquaretheareatobecove
red,firstfindthecenterofoneendofthemainrectangle.Locatethesamepointatthe
otherendwall.Snapachalklinebetweenthesepointstomarkthecenterlineonthefloor.Thenmeasurealongthis
centerlinetofindthemiddle oftheroom.Atthece
nterpoint,markoffalineacrosstheroomatexactlyrightangles
tothefirstline.Thismaybeaccomplis hedbythe3‐4‐5‐trianglemethodasshowninFigure1.Thenmeasure4feet
towardeachsidewallfromthecenterpoint.Thenmeasure3f
eetfromthecenterpointalongthelongerline,
measureexactly5feetfromthe3footmarkonthecenterlinetothe4footmarkon thecrossline.Ifthe5foot
measurementsdonotcomeoutexactly5feet,thecentercrossinglinesarenotatatruerightangle.Forlarg
erooms,
multiplesoftheabovedimensionsmaybeusedtoobtaingreateraccuracy.(6‐8‐10or9‐12‐15,etc.)
