Auto/Manual Focus
Auto Focus
The auto focus feature is designed to focus on
most types of subjects. In Auto Focus mode,
the VIEWCAM automatically focuses on what-
ever is in the centre of the scene. Always keep
the subject in the centre of the screen.
Notes:
l If no subject is in the centre of the monitor, the
focus area will expand and the subject nearest
the centre will be focused on.
l If no subject is displayed on the monitor, the
VIEWCAM will automatically zoom out until some
subject comes into the frame.
Manual Focus
The auto focus may not be able to focus on the
subject in the situations shown in the following
chart. In such situations, set the VIEWCAM to
Manual Focus mode and focus manually.
Subject is too dark
Fast-moving subject
Background IS too bright.
jubject has hortzontal stripes.

Light reflects off the subject.
Subject has fine. repeated
patterns
Lack of contrast. e.g. snow
scene.
Subject is being shot through
a dlrtv or wet window.
Subjects at different distances

Press the MENU button until Pa

Press the FOCUS button (b) to set the
VIEWCAM to Manual Focus mode
(“MAN’L FOCUS”).

To go back to auto focus
Perform step 1 above and press the b button
to set the VIEWCAM to Auto Focus mode
(“FOCUS”).
Notes:
l When recording in Manual Focus mode, you may
not be able to focus correctly if the subject is wrthin
approxrmately 1.5 m of the VIEWCAM. In such a
case, shift the zoom control toward wide angle. and
then try focusing again.
l If you focus on a subject without first setting the
zoom power to the maximum, the subject may go
out of focus when you zoom in on it iater.
l If the lens is dirty or fogged, you may not be able to
obtain correct focus.
l If the VIEWCAM is set to Manual Focus mode and
the power source is interrupted, the focus mode WIII
return to Auto Focus mode.
