More information on self recording
*The screen image is automatically inverted
when the monitor rotation is between 140”
and 200”. When the monitor is turned back
to the normal position, the image returns to
normal.
l In Self Recording mode, all standard on-
screen warning indicators are replaced by
a flashing “0”. To check the meaning of
the warning, turn the monitor back to the
normal position.
l In Self Recording mode, it is not possible
to record using manual recording modes,
change picture adjustments, display
menus, record the date and time, or use
the quick return and some of the other
features.
*You can set the VIEWCAM to the VCR
mode for playback by setting the Power
switch to VCR, even while the monitor is
rotated 180”. The buttons above the
monitor still retain their functions as during
normal playback. (For example, the 4
button still works as the PLAY button.)
However, the button indicators will not be
displayed on the monitor.
Turning Off the LCD Monitor
Backlight
This VIEWCAM’s LCD monitor uses a fluo-
rescent lamp for backlighting (see page 7). In
order to reduce battery consumption, you can
turn off the lamp when backlighting is not
necessary (e.g. when continuously recording at
a fixed angle of view with the VIEWCAM
attached to a tripod).
While the VIEWCAM is in Camera or VCR
mode, hold down the MODE DISPLAY button.
Three seconds later, “LCD LAMP OFF” starts
flashing on the monitor screen. Keep the
MODE DISPLAY button down for 3 more sec-
onds, and the backlight turns off.
