Basic Operations
Camera Recording
Unlike conventional camcorders, this model frees
you from having to peer into a small viewfinder.
You can watch the subject on the large LCD
monitor screen for easier, more enjoyable video-
shooting.
Easy Camera Recording with
Full Auto
Before you start recording, perform the operations
described on pages 11 through 19 to prepare your
VI EWCAM for recording.
1 Remove the tens cap. (See page 19.)
2 Hold down the Lock button and slide the
Power switch to CAMERA.
The picture from the
lens is now displayed
on the LCD monitor.

3 Make sure that the Full Auto mode indi-
cator “AUTO” is displayed on the monitor
screen.
Note:
l If, at this time, “AUTO” does not appear, set
the VIEWCAM to Full Auto mode by following
the procedure described on page 24.
4 Press the REC START/STOP button to
start recording.

Standby mode.
To turn the Power switch to
off, slide the switch to OFF
without pressing the Lock
button.
Notes:
If you hold down the Lock button when setting the
Power switch to OFF, you may slide it from CAMERA
to VCR, or vice versa, failing to turn off the power.
This will result in continuous power consumption, or
may cause accidental playback or recording if
operation buttons are pressed.
To leave Camera Recording mode, set the Power
switch to OFF.
1 During Camera Recording mode. the speaker is off.
If the VIEWCAM is kept in Recording Standby mode
for more than approximately 5 minutes the power
will automatically turns off to save battery power and
to protect the tape from being damaged. To
continue recording after this, set the Power switch to
OFF, and then back to CAMERA again.
If you will not be recording again for a while, turn off
the power by sliding the Power switch to OFF. This
will make the battery last longer.

Notes:
Using the zoom (see page 21) and other functions
or turning the power on and off frequently will
increase power consumption which may result in
a decrease of more than 50% in the actual
recording time per battery pack compared to the
maximum continuous recording time listed
above.
