Whenhandlingthesystemboard,bearthefollowinginmind.
•Thesystemboardhasanaccelerometer,whichcanbebrokenbyapplyingseveralthousandsofG-forces.
Note:Droppingasystemboardfromaheightofaslittleas6inchessothatitfallsatonahardbench
cansubjecttheaccelerometertoasmuchas6,000G'sofshock.
•Becarefulnottodropthesystemboardonabenchtopthathasahardsurface,suchasmetal,wood,or
composite.
•Ifasystemboardisdropped,youmusttestit,usingPC-DoctorforDOS,tomakesurethattheharddisk
driveActiveProtectionSystem
TM
stillfunctions(seebelow).
Note:IfthetestshowsthatharddiskdriveActiveProtectionSystemisnotfunctioning,besureto
documentthedropinanyrejectreport,andreplacethesystemboard.
•Avoidroughhandlingofanykind.
•Ateverypointintheprocess,besurenottodroporstackthesystemboard.
•Ifyouputasystemboarddown,besuretoputitonlyonapaddedsurfacesuchasanESDmator
conductivecorrugatedmaterial.
