Handset Settings

: Operate [z]/[Scanning]/[Wi-Fi scanning]/[Bluetooth
scanning] to set whether the location information services or
apps scan Wi-Fi networks or Bluetooth devices to improve
the location information.
･ Set it to ON to scan them even if [Wi-Fi] or [Bluetooth] is
Off.
You can make settings for the security lock.

In the home screen, [R]/[Settings]/[Lock &
Security]

Select an item
 Screen lock: Make settings for the unlock method of the
touch panel for when the power or display is turned on or the
notification to be displayed on the lock screen of the touch
panel.
 Lock screen message: Make settings for the message to be
displayed on the lock screen of the touch panel.
 Smart Lock: Set to unlock the touch panel by swiping or
touching when Screen lock is set to an item other than
[None] or [Swipe or Touch] and the handset confirms the
trusted devices, places, face, etc.
 Security key setting: Change the security key.

 Fingerprint settings: Register your fingerprint used for
fingerprint authentication. Register your fingerprint to unlock
Screen lock and the security key by fingerprint authentication
as well. For details on fingerprint authentication
nP. 74 “Fingerprint authentication”
 Secrecy settings: For details nP. 74 “Secrecy settings”
 Set up SIM card lock: For details nP. 75 “Setting up SIM
card lock”
 Encrypt phone: Check that the smartphone is encrypted.
 Visible passwords: When you enter the PIN code etc., you
can display the entered characters before they turn into [・].
 Device administrators: Set a device management function of
apps. Some apps may not be available if the device
management function is disabled.
 Unknown sources: Allow installation of apps received via
websites other than Google Play, mails, etc.
 Storage type: Display the storage type.
 Use secure credentials: Allow access to secure certificates
and other credentials.
 Install certificates: Install encrypted certificates.
 Clear credentials: Delete all credentials.
 Trust agents: Make settings for apps (agents) that unlock the
touch panel.
 Screen pinning: Restrict the use of apps other than selected
one. For details on the operation method nP. 29 “Recent
Apps”
 Apps with usage access: Set apps that can access the data
of app usage history item.
It is necessary to set [Location] to On to measure the present
location. Some apps require that settings be made for location
information by using the apps.
[Mode]
Power consumption of the handset may increase depending on
the set mode.
If you set [Location] to On, the confirmation screens for the use
of location information are displayed. The mode to be set may
differ depending on whether you select [DISAGREE]/[AGREE].
Lock & security
[Screen lock]
The following items can be set.
 None: The lock screen of the touch panel is not displayed.
 Swipe or Touch: Set the touch panel to be unlocked by
touching [J]. When [Feel Home] is selected in Batch change
lock screen/ home application, slide [I] up to unlock.
 Pattern: Set a pattern which forms by linking four or more
dots.
 Lock No.: Set four- to sixteen-digit number.
 Password: Set four to sixteen alphanumerics or half-width
symbols including at least one alphabet.
･ Some half-width symbols are not available.
If you have registered the fingerprint, unlock the screen by
fingerprint authentication as well.
･ If you fail in fingerprint authentication five times continuously,
you cannot unlock the screen by the fingerprint for a certain
period of time. Try again later or unlock the screen by method
set in Screen lock.
If you enter wrong patterns, you cannot unlock the screen for a
certain period of time according to how many times you have
entered wrong patterns.
 Five times in a row: 30 seconds
 10 times in a row: 30 seconds
After you have entered wrong patterns 10 times in a row, you
cannot enter the pattern for 30 seconds each time you enter
wrong patterns. If you enter the correct pattern, the count is
reset.
The following items in Lock & Security may be displayed/hidden
depending on the settings in Screen lock.
 Make pattern visible: Display tracks of the entered pattern
with line.
 Automatically lock: Set how long it takes the touch panel to
be locked.
 Power key to lock instantly: Set whether to lock the touch
panel regardless of the time set in Automatically lock when
you turn off the display by pressing H.
If Screen lock is set to [None] or [Swipe or Touch] and set your
Google account to the handset, you can set the lock by
password from PC, tablet, etc.
When you have lost your handset etc., connect to the following
website and sign in with your Google account set to the
handset.

Unlock the screen when activating the handset
If you set Screen lock to an item other than [None] or [Swipe or
Touch], you can set whether to unlock the screen when the
power is turned on.
If you enter wrong patterns/lock numbers/passwords 10 or 20
times in a row when turning on the power and unlocking the
screen, you cannot enter them until turning the power on again.
Note that if you enter wrong ones 30 times in a row, the handset
is initialized.
[Smart Lock]
When using Smart Lock, touch and hold the unlock icon such
as [J] in the lock screen of the touch panel to temporarily
disable Smart Lock.
･ If Batch change lock screen/ home application is set to [Feel
Home], touch the unlock icon such as [I] to temporarily
disable Smart Lock.
[Unknown sources]
Apps you download from the websites may be of unknown
origin. To protect your handset and personal data, download
apps only from trusted sources such as Google Play.
