Thischartprovidesdefinitionsoftermsusedinthismanual.
Term Denition
Management PC
The PC that is used to create and distribute programs, timetables and schedules.
Also referred to as a “Server PC”.
Operation PC
A PC that is used to create programs, timetables and schedules, upload them to the
server PC, and instruct distribution.
Viewer PC
A PC that displays content according to a schedule.
Also referred to as a “Panel PC” or a “Client PC”. “Panel” refers to an LCD monitor
connected to a viewer PC.
Content(files)
Material(i.e.files)suchasmovies,stillimages,andaudiofilesthatareplayedonthepanel.
These are usually prepared by the user.
Playlist
A list that plays multiple content in a desired order.
Contains information such as content data, order of play, and duration, etc.
Frame
Refers to a sub-screen that is used as a display unit when a single panel is divided into
multiple frames.
Scroll message
A scrolling message.
Uptotwoscrollmessagescanbedisplayed.
Program
Programs consist of a frame layout, multiple frames and their assigned playlist
information, scroll message information, etc.
RSS feed Data that structures web site headlines and summaries.
Timetable
Timetables contain information regarding the order and duration of play for multiple
programs that have been assigned to a one-day time frame.
Schedule Schedules contain multiple timetables assigned to desired dates of play.
Attachedfiles
Thecollectivetermfortheimagefiles,etc,whicharerequiredwhendisplayingHTMLfiles,etc.
Assign
This refers to determining which data (schedule, break-in program, emergency scroll
message and updater) should be distributed to which panel.
Confirmdistribution Thisreferstofinalizingtheassignment.Thisstartsdistributionofthedatatothepanel.
Tenant
A virtual database generated in SDSS WEB server, with which you can manage
informationlikeUser,ViewerPC,Schedule,ProgramandsooneachTenant.
Supervisor An administrative supervisor capable to access information across all the Tenants

Points to note when creating content and programs
Before operating the system, run a test using the actual content to be displayed on the panel. If the PC does not
havesufficientprocessingpower,contentmaynotbeplayedcorrectly.
•Movieplayers
Playing multiple videos simultaneously is not recommended.
WindowsMediaPlayergenerallyplacesaheavierloadontheCPUthanFlashPlayer(althoughthisdepends
on the content).
•Aseparate,fee-basedcodecmaybenecessarytoplayvideofiles.
•QuickTimePlayerisrequiredinordertoplayQuickTimecontent.
•Flashcontent
Takecarewhenplayingcontentthatmakesfrequentuseofimagetransparencyprocessing(imagefade-in/
fade-out),asthismayplaceanextremelyheavyloadontheCPU.
•Enlarging/reducingstillimagesandmovies
Asimagesizeanddisplaysizeincrease,sodoestheloadplacedontheCPU.CPUloadalsoincreaseswhen
imagesaredisplayedatanenlargedorreducedsize.Keepthesizeofthecontentdisplayarea(framesize)as
smallaspossible.Contentshouldalsobecreatedusingthesameimagesizeasthedisplaysize.
