Caution
FOLLOW APPROPRIATE ESD PROCEDURES TO INSURE PROPER
GROUNDING BEFORE HANDLING PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARDS.
STEP 1 IfthesystemhasdualLPUsmaketheLPUthatisnotbeingrepairedthe
activeunit.
STEP 2 RemoveACmainspowerfromtheLPUbeingrepaired.
Note
Removal of the ribbon cables that attach to Control A and Control B connectors on the rear of the LPU
will cause the safety interlock to open and take the transmitter off-air. The removed LPU can be bypassed
by connecting the Control A and Control B ribbon cables together with a jumper cable Harris part no.
952-9248-072. Connecting the cables together with this cable will close the interlock chain and allow
continued operation on the active LPU. The same cable can be used to bypass a removed PAB chassis.
STEP 3 IftheLPUisinstalledinarack,removeitandplaceitonabench.

STEP 5 Ascablesaredisconnectedeachconnectorremovedshouldbemarkedwith
thejacknumberthatitconnectsto.Useafinepermanentmarkerortapeto
markeachcable.Thisisimportantsincemanyofthecablesarenotmarked
andtheirroutingiscritical.
