5.9.3 LPUPAandPSModuleReplacement
Note
The module(s) in the LPU chassis are hot-pluggable. It is not necessary to remove AC mains power before
removing or inserting a module. If active the LPU will go off air upon removal of a module.
STEP 1 OpenLPUchassisfrontdoorbylooseningthefourthumbscrewsondoor.
STEP 2 Loosentheretainingthumbscrewsfortheaffectedmodule.
STEP 3 Removemodule.
STEP 4 Verifythatpartnumberofreplacementmodulematchesthepartnumberof
themodulebeingreplaced.
STEP 5 Insertreplacementmodule.
STEP 6 Securethereplacementmodulebytighteningtheretainingthumbscrew(s).
STEP 7 PresstheONbuttonontheLPUorTCU(whereapplicable)torestartthe
modules.
STEP 8 Performa functionalchecktoverifytransmitterisworkingcorrectly.
STEP 9 Procedurecomplete.
5.9.4 LPUFron tFanReplacement
Therearetwo12VDCfansintheupperpartoftheLPU(seeFigure5‐27onpage5‐43).Mainspowermustbe
removedfromtheunitandtheunitremovedfromthecabinetinordertochangethefans.Thus,analternateLPU
mustbeusedtoremainon‐airduringthismaintenanceoperation.ThetopoftheLPUmustberemovedtogain
accesstothefans.

THE FAN MAY CONTINUE TO ROTATE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS AFTER
REMOVAL.

5.9.5 LPURearFanReplacement
Therearethree50VDCfansintherear,lowerhalf,oftheLPU(seeFigure5‐26onpage5‐43).Thefansoperate
continuously(atvariablespeeds) wheneverthetransmitterison.Thefanscanberemovedwhilethetransmitter
continuesoperating,providingthatareplacementfanisinstalledasqu
icklyaspossible.Disconnectthedcsupply
connectorbeforeremovingfan.UseaA#2screwdriverisneededtoremovethefourscrewsthatattachthefansto
theLPUchassis.
Caution
THE FAN MAY CONTINUE TO ROTATE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS AFTER
REMOVAL. FANS MAY ALSO STARTUP AS SOON AS THEY ARE PLUGGED IN
IF TRANSMITTER IS ON.
