Avoiding curtailment
Germany as an example, function
depending on the country
Additionally, you have a further
significant advantage. The
Renewable Energies Act (EEG) and
the conditions of the KfW bank
subsidies allow for only a part of
the output of a solar system to be
fed into the mains grid. In this case,
if there is no current household
consumption need, then the output
of the solar system is reduced and
you “lose” power generation.
This procedure is known as
“curtailment”. In order to avoid this,
the Sharp energy manager offers the
possibility of intentionally postponing
the battery charging. For example,
in the morning the solar system can
feed in electricity to the grid and
re-schedule the battery charging for
the time of maximum output (with
the corresponding reduction of the
feed-in). In this way, the photovoltaic
system is not curtailed and you
benefit.
More options thanks to smart
battery management
Flexible battery charging and discharging puts your energy
account into positive territory
The Smart Chap energy
manager can use
forecasting to optimise
battery charging and
discharging: this is an
option many other battery-
based systems do not
include. By considering
weather forecasts and
consumption prognoses
based on the previous
consumption profile,
electricity generation needs
can be predicted accurately.
The Smart Chap app for your
PC, smartphone or tablet
allows you to see how much
energy is currently being
generated by your solar
panel, how charged the
battery is and how much
energy is being consumed in
the home.
Everything in control at all times

Your power consumption and
energy balance at a glance
You can see how much of your own
energy is consumed at which time of
the day, how independent you are
from the energy provider and how this
share (degree of self-sufficiency) can
be further increased.
The Smart Chap app from Sharp
clearly shows your running energy
balance at a glance.
And it’s so easy:
Conveniently access your personal
energy manager using your web
browser.
An app is available for Android and
iOS devices.
