Setting the SD-3 Write Protect Switch
You can set the write protect switch so that the cartridge is read-only (nothing
can be written on the tape). Slide the switch to the right so that the pencil icon
is split as shown in Figure A-16. In this position, the drive can only read data
from the tape and can not write data.
You can set the write protect switch so that the SD-3 cartridge is write enabled.
Slide the switch to the left so that the pencil icon is joined as shown in
Figure A-16. In this position, the drive can write as well as read data. This
setting is recommended when entering cartridges into the LSM.
Note: Some software has a feature called virtual thumbwheel, allowing read-
only access to a cartridge that is not physically write protected.
