4.5.2 Password locking
This function prevents illegal operation by unauthorized persons using the preset first and
second passwords.
Each password is a 4-digit number.
When the password lock is enabled, the instrument performs measurement and rejects any
key operations except for password lock setup (mentioned below).
You can enable/disable the lock only by following the procedure described below.
Note
z Note that if the password locking is enabled, the maintenance functions such as calibration and
settings are disabled. Set it up carefully.
z The password before factory shipment has been set to 0000-0000.
Password setting
You must input the current passwords before setting up new passwords.
Note
z It is recommended to use numbers which is easy to remember and hard to forget.
z If you forget the passwords you set, send the instrument back to HORIBA Advanced Techno.
We will send it back to you after resetting the passwords to the default setting (0000-0000).

1. Perform the steps 1. to 5. of “Password Operation” (page 50).
Measurement display shows “Lock” and the sub-display shows the current lock status,
“on” for enabled or “oFF” for disabled.
2. Press the UP/DOWN key to select the password to be set.
3. Press the ENT key.
The instrument enters the setup state and the sub-display starts blinking.
Tip
To cancel the whole password setting and return to the measurement mode, press the MEAS key with
a digit blinking.
4. Press the UP/DOWN key to set a new password.
5. Press the ENT key.
The setting is established and the digit stops blinking.
Then the next digit starts blinking.
6. Repeat steps 4. to 5. to the rightmost digit.
When the rightmost digit is established, all the four digits flashes and the password is read
into the instrument.
7. To change the other password next, press the UP/DOWN key to select the other
password, and change it in the same way.
