3.13 Internal/External Regeneration (Regen) Resistors – Configurations
Regeneration resistors can only be fitted to T200 servo-drives with an Internal Power Supply (i.e. Model Numbers.
T200-X10). The T200-310/410/510 do have an internal regen resistor with a continuous power rating of 40W, peek
power of 2.8kW. This regen resistor can be supplemented with an additional external regeneration resistor.
The T200-610/710 do not have an internal regen resistor. An external regen resistor is required in any case.
All external Regen resistors should be mounted to allow adequate heat dissipation and such that heat from the Regen
resistor is not directed to air intakes of other equipment.
Moog can supply users with external regeneration resistors. Contact your local Moog sales office or authorised
distributor for available resistor kits.
For EMC purposes, use shielded cable to connect the external Regen
resistor to the T200. The length of this cable should be as short as
possible. The shields of these cables should be connected to Chassis
Earth using the optional EMC kit or the panel earth bar. Alternatively,
if the cable is required to pass through an enclosure panel earthed to
Chassis Earth, the shield may be earthed to the panel by use of a 360
degree metal cable gland.
Refer to Section 2.3.3 and 2.4 for further safety and EMC requirements
for cable installation.
NOTE - The internal regeneration resistor is protected by an internal electronic
circuit breaker, which disables regeneration when the internal resistors rating is
exceeded. For an externally fitted regeneration resistor, the T200 Servo-drive
monitors the regeneration duty cycle and reports a warning to the user via the
Thermal Limit output (THRMAL_LIM) and seven segment display. The
warning reports that the continuous regeneration power of the external resistor
has been exceeded.
WARNING
- External regen resistors are connected to the T200 D.C. Bus
voltage that can reach 400 V d.c. Exposed metallic mounting parts of external
regen resistors must be connected to protective earth and the electrically
conducting parts mechanically shielded for safety. High voltage warning
stickers are also recommended.
