BLI has selected the Sharp MX-M503N to receive a Fall 2009 "Outstanding Achievement"
award for outstanding energy efficiency in the 41- to 50-ppm A3/ledger monochrome MEP
category. "Buyers are increasingly concerned with purchasing printers and MFPs that are
not only reliable, productive and easy to use but also environmentally friendly," said Lynn
Nannariello, BLI's assistant managing editor. "So we're very proud td acknowledge the
most energy-efficient products based on our lab testing."
Offering such "green" features as toner-save mode in the print drivers, as well as proof
and N-up modes for print and copy, the MX-M503N far and away provided the lowest
projected annual energy consumption cost for competitive models.
As part of the environmental test reports, BLI measures the energy consumed by docu-
ment imaging products in all operating modes as welJ as in energy-save, idle and sleep
modes. In addition to reporting on a range of other environmental-related features, such
as runnability with various grades of recycled paper, the reports include projected annual
energy consumption and cost based on real-world usage for each product segment.
