 Sharp OSA™
Like other MX series machines, the
MX-M1100/950/850 can be installed with Sharp
OSA
®
(Open Systems Architecture).
It allows third-party software developers to create
custom applications that link the MFP to software
programmes on a server or on a PC.
The LCD control panel is used to access and operate
these software programmes.
Some competitors have similar package available but due to clever solutions and short development
cycle, Sharp OSA is one of the best customised solution options available
 EFI Fiery Print Controller
Processing certain types of files, or particularly large files can require large amounts of
processing power, and it can also take a long time. By adding an optional MX-PEX3 Fiery
print controller, the MX-M1100/950/850 will be able to process and therefore print these
documents much more efficiently.
[Specialised hardware for RIP and ‘Smart Rip’ technology]
MX-PEX3 has high performance hardware’(e.g. ‘Intel Celeron D 2.8GHz CPU’ and ‘80GB 7200rpm SATA
HDD’). These work on a stable System OS (Linux ), and are not used for copying or faxing.
‘Smart Rip’ is a software technology designed to accelerate image processing (RIP). This technology
enables complex, memory-intensive graphics and bulk jobs to be printed at high speed from
applications.
