BEFORE USING THE MACHINE►MAINTENANCE
CLEANING THE LASER UNIT
When the laser unit inside the machine becomes dirty, line patterns (coloured lines) may form in the printed image.
Identifying lines (coloured lines) caused by a dirty laser unit
• Coloured lines always appear in the same place. (The lines are never black.)
• Coloured lines appear in
parallel with the direction of paper feeding.
• Coloured lines appear not only on output from a copier but also on prints from a computer. (The same lines appear on
bo
th copies and print jobs.)
If conditions similar to the above occur, clean the laser unit as explained below.

2
Pull out the paper tray 1.
Hold the tray with both hands and slowly pull out and up at a
slight angle.
The waste toner box cannot be removed unless tray 1 is
removed.
3
Open the front cover.
4
Pull out the waste toner box.
Hold the waste toner box with both hands and slowly pull it
out.
When removing the waste toner box, it is easier to draw one side at a time.
5
Place the waste toner box on a flat surface.
Spread newspaper on the surface before placing the waste toner box.
Do not tilt the part with the hole down, as waste toner will spill out.
